Would this setup cause problems?

I couldn't find any information directly relating to my question so...here goes

right now my car has:
-mild street port
-HKS downpipe
-racing beat exhaust

everything else is stock; i'm afraid this setup would cause my engine to run lean and lead to fuel cutout or detonation

can you guys recommend anything i might do to prevent that from happening? for example, if i need a new ECU, what kind would you recommend? something slightly cheaper than a Power FC would be helpful i'm not planning on running the car to its maximum potential too much, so anything that would prevent problems on a daily drive would be best.

thanks!

also, would you guys recommend a J&S Knock Sensor?

I'll never understand why people insist on porting their engines and trying to run a stock ecu...

At the very least you need to control boost so you are running 10psi or under, but what you really need is an ECU that can handle a street ported motor or have the PowerFC tuned by an experienced tuner for your mods.

the previous owner did the mild street port...but since the price was right i decided to go for it, and i could always pay for the right mods to ensure that nothing happens later

with only those mods, would the boost go over 10 psi? (my boost gauge hasn't arrived yet =/)

anyways, i was thinking of going with an S-AFC II to control the fuel, and i wasn't expecting to have to control the boost...however, if i DO have to control the boost, would it be more practical to buy a Power FC instead or just stick with the S-AFC for the fuel and perhaps an AVC-R for the boost levels? keep in mind that the car will be more of a daily driver than a weekly track car, so i only need what's sufficient to ensure proper fuel and boost levels.

The S-AFC is not the best choice for controlling fuel. Your best bet is to get a boost controller (I would recommend the Greddy Profec if you are staying with the sequential turbo setup) and keep the boost limited to 10 PSI.

If you want to increase your boost, look at either getting a programmable ECU and having it professionally tuned, or get a rechipped ECU like a Pettit or M2 ECU.

Keeping the boost under control at stock levels will be ok for a while. It's hard to predict since you have a ported motor, but you should be ok at 10 PSI. Anything higher and you'll be asking for trouble with an upgraded ECU of some sort.

Why dont you just cough up the $$ for a PowerFC, You will be able to use it to control boost also raise/lower it because you will be able to tune it however you want. Also you will not be utilizing the street port to its full effect unless you have an ECU which you can properly tune your timing anyway. Just buy the PowerFC it WILL be the best mod you ever make...

Has everyone forgotten the 3 mod rule?!!!???? If you have 3 or more engine mods (any 3, exhaust, intake, etc) you NEED a EMS. If you have a ported engine, the 3 mod rule kind of goes out the window, any ported engine needs to have an EMS.

That's because the 3 mod rule is bogus.

ok that's all i needed to know, thanks i think i will just shell out the money for a PFC, once i can find a good place to tune it. the only reason i didn't do this before was because the previous owner said there were absolutely no problems with fuel cutout or the engine running lean, but, well...that's what they all say i suppose

now...my next question- is a J&S knock retard system worth the money?
