Worth compression testing a blown engine?

Worth compression testing a blown engine?
I bought a used engine for cheap. The seller said that a coolant seal went, so he drained it and it sat for a while.
I have the engine sitting on my engine stand now.
Would it be worthwhile doing a compression test on it, to gain more information? Is it worth the risk of doing more damage if something is jammed or corroded?
Or should I just take it apart and inspect everything visually?
Thanks

Yep. I've been through a few motors that had bad coolant seals that sat for a long time and all the seals were rusted into the rotor. Was a CHORE to get them out, at least 1 time I had to just throw out the rotor.
Compression test won't give you anything here. When a motor is open all secrets are revealed.
