wooshing sound when clutch in and out

hey all, I've got a strange noise issue from the car, when it seems like it has a kind of wooshing noise at idle, and when I step on the clutch it goes away and suddenly noise in the cabin is greatly reduced, so much its like putting my hands over my ears. maybe not to that extent but similar. Any one know what could cause this ?

Throwout bearing possibly?

Mine is STARTING to make noise like that, but its barely noticeable right now... I was planning on replacing it sometime soon

I'm not so sure the T-O brg diagnoses are accurate. There is more load on the T-O brg when the pedal is depressed. What makes more sense to me is bearing noise in the tranny being transmitted to the chassis or through the shifter. That would disappear when the trans input shaft stops rotating as the clutch is depressed (disengaged).

Could possibly be the input shaft bearing on the transmission. If it goes away when the clutch is pushed in, it is probably not the throwout bearing or the pilot bearing as they are both going to be spinning with the clutch pushed in and not spinning with the clutch out.

There are also some instances that certain clutches have a noise when the clutch is out but noise goes away with the clutch in.

IE: ACT clutches IIRC. There are some threads about that.

Its not a deafening sound but its def a sound thats noticeable with the clutch out, then goes away completely when the clutch is in.

yes its not loud at all, you have to turn the radio completely off to hear the difference, but its like you're hearing exhaust noise (sounds more like wind) than when I depress the cluth in it will go away and all quiet in the cabin
