1st attempt is turn key, second attempt is using the gas pedal.

Anyone recognize that noise? I figure its some sort of fuel delivery culprit.

 

your idle air control may be starting to give you issues . see if you can regulate idle

do you know what the noise is on the first attempt to start? something is engaging but what?

 

Not starting without giving it gas is most likely related to the tune or the throttle body settings or iac. The noise sounds like the starter solenoid. Most likely it isn't getting enough juice. What happens is you get too much voltage drop between the battery, ignition switch, and starter. Run a relay to it.
