Wondering about my cooling system

I don't know guys, this just doesn't make sense to me. I have zero cooling problems with my FD---- on the street, on the dyno, and roadracing. This includes 20 minute sessions last August.
I'm talking typical temps of 85 C, maybe 90 tops, and 100-102 on the road race course running 17 psi lap after lap. Oil temps top out at 205-210 F on track and much lower on the street, like 140 cruising and 180 in traffic.
Plus, I'm running a FMIC, which doesn't help matters.
Is the air completely flushed out of all these systems? Also, oil cooling is very important, as is ductwork and airflow management. The puny 1993-95 front bumper isn't doing anyone any favors.

Dual R1 oil coolers here, FMIC, underbelly tray installed. Don't get me wrong, my car doesn't ALWAYS run hot. It's generally just after hard driving, at which point I see 100 deg C. I've burped it, burped it, then burped it some more...I'm not getting anymore air out. The one thing I will say is that the temps do tend to drop a bit quicker after a pull now, which I'm guessing is due to the better heat transfer coefficient water provides.

I've been looking in the classifieds since last weekend for dual r1 coolers. Can't seem to find any. I've sent PM's to guys who usually have stuff like this around but they didn't have any. Patiently waiting for some to show up.

So I started up the car, turned on the A/C and let it idle. The fans both kicked on @ 86 but the temp continued to climb up to 106 on the power FC before I took a water hose to it and cooled it down. This is ridiculous, it's 87 degrees outside and I have a large Koyo?

What T stat are you running?

Rich I see the same temps and I have the twin cookers still on my block... and I still have the 93-95 bumper. Intake temps suffer because of that, but the water and oil temps are great.
Mr rx7 tt, have you removed your airpump and not replaced it with an idler?
BTW, I have read that running a COOLER T-stat is not a good idea as these cars were designed to run warmer than 160 etc... I have the stock t-stat, I have a Koyo Nflow, still have AC, still have the twins boosting at 16psi, and I have dual R1 oilcoolers, and the car rarely sees temps over 86C.
I have removed emissions, and I did put a pineapple racing idler pulley in play to ensure my water pump has a full contact patch. I also run Royal Purple Synth oil for the few degrees lower temps. If 1 of these mods was a great help, I would say the second oil cooler, but with them all together I have great oil and water temps.

Chris, I'm running an OEM t-stat.
Dfoster, you're comparing your street temps to mine, but road racing is a different story......unless you're running 16 psi on twins on track without cooling issues?

Yeah. Last summer my car was giving me great water temps. Making me confident in taking it out in 90+ degree weather.
I had to fool around with my coolant mix earlier this year because an ast hose burst. So im running an unknown mixture of prestone and water. Im also running idemitsu syn and my temps are crazy.
Yesterday and today were pretty warm. About 86-88 degrees and my car kept climbing up to 205f on the highway!! Sure it may not seem much to some but its high comparing to previous summers. Throttling in 5th gear up an incline on the highway and water will go up to 210-212f.
I had to go about 70mph and feather the throttle to bring the temps down to 200f.
Last summer in HOTTER ambient temps I was boosting and temps didn't break 205f.
This was when I was running peak 50/50 coolant and royal purple syn oil.
Think I gotta go back to that combo again.

Rich, true these are street temps.... track wise I shall see in a weekend or two. Just updated my tune for the midpipe and a few other mods so I will see. Prior to the dual oil coolers and the new Rad I saw 110 - 112 after a 15 min session on the track and that was at 14psi.
I have ducted my Oil coolers really well and have also ducted the Rad. I need to get the shark mouth mod though

You are also correct as you want the engine to run at least 180.

Yeah stock radiator. Im not sure if its the original but it is the OEM rad. Also stock t-stat too. And i have an FMIC.
I really think its the coolant mixture thats making my temps (even with conservative driving) go up.
It was definitely not like this last year and i was driving the car in july. In worse weather.
Either its strictly the coolant mixture or a combination of that plus the oil im running. If that makes any sense.

I just got done driving my car on sum back country roads chasing my buddies on liter bikes at 190mph. Coolant temp never exceeded 89c. No Radiator fans(haven't had fans for a year) and I daily drive my car in florida , just good radiator ducting. Vmount cooling setups are the ****!!!
you should be able to keep you temps down. Do you have a FMIC by chance???

he is right the temp shouldn't get much past the fan turnon temp. sumting is amiss

Sorry i just think thats pretty funny.
Also what do you do when you're stuck in bumper to bumper traffic? You can have the best top notch ducting in the world, you're gonna overheat since no air is being passed through while you're at a dead stop with no fans on.
Every car needs fans, its there for a reason.

Well water disperses heat better than coolant. I run 70/30 to 75/25. Unless your FD is sitting outside in the dead of winter why not ruduce the mixture. I mean I flush my coolant every year anyway ( makes a big diff too. Heat and our motors slowly reduce the effeciency of our coolant . With the koyo, the drain plug makes it easy, and its a cheap 30 dollare maintenance bill

Also what do you do when you're stuck in bumper to bumper traffic? You can have the best top notch ducting in the world, you're gonna overheat since no air is being passed through while you're at a dead stop with no fans on.

As for driving in traffic with no fans. If I sit a a couple of lights back to back and don't get much over 30mph my water temps do go up. I HAVE DRIVEN MY CAR EVERY DAY FOR ALMOST A YEAR and haven't seen the water temp go past 93c unless the engine was just started heat soaked. When I get over 40 mph 83c to 85c is normal
