Windshield replacement

I have a nice spiderweb on the CYM ...

I have 3 options on the color of the upper tint band of the windshield:
Blue
Grey
Bronze

Anyone know what the factory color is ?
I assume blue as it was on my 93 SSM Touring and current on my BB R1 and CYM

I favor Grey

How about the tint of the rest of the windshield?? I'm looking to replace it on my VR. That windshield has grey tint and cannot be had unless you buy the original OEM windshield ($500+). Did you find any aftermarket windshield with grey tint?? If so, please let me know where.

these were the choices given to me by Diamond Auto Glass and Safelite..they were only referring to the upper band on the windshield though...

blue tint .. 155 installed.
IMHO i should have paid the extra 55 for the grey tint..oh well
seems to have a higher grade blue tint than the one that was just replaced.. contrast with cym

blue grey and bronze were all oem colors. anything other than that and you did not get an oem windshield. yes you are correct that the grey costs more. An extra expense is the trim around the outside of the windshield. It was $99 new, but in most cases they can reuse the trim. It is nonfunctional, for looks only.

Anyone notice the OEM glass is extremely thin for weight reduction?
Aftermarket replacement windshields are much thicker and heavier.

are you sure? i didnt research on this one, but it looked like their thicknesses are about the same when i compared my cracked OEM one and the aftermarket one.

i think my aftermarket was actually thinner. "This is CHINESE glass!" the worker exclaimed with disdain. I then got a 30 minute lecture on how the windshield is key to the structural integrity of the car in a rollover...reminded me of hank hill waxing about propane.
