Anyone have any experience replacing the front windshield moulding ? I've read the manual, looks pretty intensive

It's not that hard to do, but I would suggest having someone help you get it centered properly. The moulding is designed to go on with no adhesive, but I would recommend a small bead of black 3m adhesive around the perimeter. As you install the moulding, you have to push down on it to ensure that it "hooks" into place. The moulding has a lip on each side that is designed to hook under the glass and under the windshield frame to hold it in place.

So you don't have to cut out old sealant like the manual is stating ? Maybe I'll have a shop look at doing it if that is the case, mine is a little sun warped

I had to cut the crap out of the old sealant to get the moulding out.

 

Yes you do have to cut out the old sealant. I small flathead screwdriver and a utility blade works well for this.

Every car is different though, because of different climate conditions that these cars have been exposed to. It's really not hard, just a little aggravating and time consuming. Most glass replacement businesses have the proper tools to do this for you and can replace it fairly easy and quick, but if you're more conscientious of stretching a dollar, you can do it yourself.

how much does one of those moldings cost? mine is all warped (rear too) and yah I want to try to replace it. Is it worth taking it to an autoglass shopt to do?

 

The moulding itself is kinda pricey. I think they are close to $100 each for the front and rear. As for where to take it: If you don't feel comfortable D.I.Y., then give them a call and get a price.
