Windshield Glass Repair

Anyone ever had to repair their glass. I had a stupid SUV swerve off the road in front of me, which in turn made a small chip in my windshield. It is only 1/8-1/4" pretty small. I wanted to get it repaired before it started to spread. So I called a bunch of places and they all wanted like $55-60 for not guaranteed work. Something like I used Rain-X so the resin won’t adhere right. Anyway, has anyone had to repair a chip in their windshield if so how was your experience.

TIA,
Chris

I have had it done before on a larger chip than that. It has held up well for 2 years.

I think I paid $75, but this was at a Mercedez dealer (DOH!). Hey, I was getting some regularly scheduled maintenace done too!

BTW, I use Rain-X also, but they cleaned the spot with something to help it stick better.

You will still see a little spot there after done, but it shouldn't spread into a crack and is hardly noticable.

I've done it on my car too. I got a nice chip a week after i bought my car from the dealership.

They should be able to clean the area then put that resin crap in. It works and it's a hell of alot cheaper than buying a new window. Mine lasted 4 years....then car got stolen

Call your insurance company, if you have I think comprehensive insurance they will pay the cost to fix the chip, even if you have a $500 deductible. I did that just a couple months ago, I had a $500 deductible and they payed the $70 or whatever it was to fix my chip.
