Will a Pettit modified ECU for a 94 work in a 93?

Hi guys, will a non cali 5 speed Pettit modified ECU from a 1994 (CODE: N3C1A) work in a non cali 5 speed 1993 rx-7 (code N3A1)?

I have heard it would throw a code because all 94's have an EGR but I see them for sale saying it will work for 93-95 models all the time?

Thanks, Jason

If you have a California emissions car then the 94 will be good for any year California car. If you have a federal emisssions car the preferred ECU is a 93 or 95 Pettit modified ECU. Other wise you will have to deal with the EGR code that will be thrown unless your car is a 94 or is a Cali. emissions car.

Thank you. Does that mean 95 did not have EGR?

Also does dealing with the EGR code mean anything more than the engine light coming on? Or will there be other issues like limp mode?

If you have a 93 then try and find a non-cali. ecu other than a 94 or deal with the EGR issue.

The only reason you would want to use a Federal 94 Pettit modified ECU is if you have a 94 federal, or any model Cali. ECU car and wanted to retain the emissions. That was the only reason Pettit modified the ECU's for 94's. Most everyone that runs a remapped ECU gets rid of the air pump and cats. You can get around the EGR thing which can be searched if your dead set on using that ECU.
