Friend of mine just picked up a Spearco intercooler. He got it at a good price but its a stocky shape. The core measures 12x8x3. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this size intercooler. It has large 3inch inlets though. He also has an 93 R1 with full intake, exhaust and ecu. Will this IC be enough? I know typical aftermarket IC's come 11x10x3.5 for Stock mount.

If it's at least larger than stock then your fine..

 

It's about twice the volume of stock. As long as you can make good ducting for it. It's okay. It seems its the same size as the blitz...a tad smaller

 

Thats good to hear. I know anything is better than stock, he was just wondering since how good it could flow because he's pushing about 14 psi on the motor. The thing looks like it better fits a honda or something. Thanks again.

 

Are these measurements taken w/o the end tanks? If so, then he should be fine since the stock one is pathetically small.

 

Yeah this is just the core. The endtanks add like 2 1/2 on each side. I kinda looks like a prosche 930 intercooler. Short, long and thick(only 3"). The total area of the core is like 288 cubic inches. I was trying to find any numbers like cfms.

 

Should be fine. Not the biggest in the world, but it'll do. Don't worry about cfm, worry about boost drop.

How big is the stock intercooler w/o end tanks? Like 12 X 2/12 X 4 or something ridiculously small like that?

 

i believe the stock one is like 11x 4.5x2 or something like that. He got it for $300 and was just wondering if he wasted money. Hopefully he'll notice a difference.

 

He'll probably just sell it to some honda people.
