Will I reset the ECU if I disconnect the battery on my FD?
I've noticed that if I intentionally reset the ECU (step on the brake pedal with the battery disconnected), when I reconnect the battery, the car stumbles at about 5k rpm for 100-200 miles until the ECU "learns" how to deal with this.
I need to test my other vehicle with a battery and I was wondering if I just disconnect the battery and don't stepon the brake pedal will the ECU get reset? I'd prefer for the ECU not to have to relearn how to fix the stumble again.
Thanks!

I haven't done this yet, but the only way I've heard to reset the ECU is to do the break pedal thing w/ the battery disconnected. It's worth a shot, but I'd imagine that there aren't several different ways to do the same thing with the ECU (it's a pretty sensitive piece of equipment).
I believe you have to proceed in this manner:
- Disconnect the battery
- Wait one minute
- Hold the brake pedal down for 15 seconds
- Reconnect the battery
If you simply disconnect a battery and move it around, the ECU does not get disconnected. You will lose the programming in your radio and if its a stock touring model CD player, you need to enter a special code once you've reinstalled the battery.
