Hello Fellow Canadian.

What other modifications do you have or have you done?

A higher flowing fuel pump will not prevent detonation. I would spend the money on an upgraded ECU/EFI PMS/Apexi PFC, it is much cheaper than a new motor. Even with ECU mods it is possible to blow your motor.

Question

How much boost are you running? Do you have any problems keeping your boost in check? I wouldn't run more than 10 psi of boost without any mods to your ECU, otherwise you will run into fuel cutoff, or excessively high pressures and experience a wonderful case of detonation.

With no cat back or intake you should be safe but it still depends on boost. That combo can produce nasty spikes along with boost creep. Also a fuel pump can cause a rich condition because contrary to common sense a fuel pump will increase fuel flow regardless of your ECU. (One would think it would just increase max fuel potential.) If I were you I would be careful. It's better to take things slow than to haphazardly throw upgrades on to your car. If you decide to go with just a pump get a dyno tune by a reputable Rotary shop to make sure you are safe.
