Wierd problem

I just got back my car from painting and it was running totally fine before I had brought it in. One of the problems that had occurred was that they flooded the car and I had to go there to get it unflooded. The motor was just installed with about 300 miles on it before going to the shop. When I got the car back, the car was idling at around 100rpm. The car was barely alive but it constatly idled at that level. I let the car run getting it to operating temps but still no change. When I drove the car it just wanted to die I had to rev it higher to get it from dying out when i engaged the clutch. I added gas and drove the car a little more, all of a sudden it sputtered and then it started runnning fine again. This was probably after a half mile to a mile worth of driving after. I was wondering what could of caused this type of thing to occur? Because of this could I of caused any damage to the car? Right now the car seems to be driving fine. The reason I post this question is to make sure I hadn't done anything foolish and risked losing this second motor.

I think were having the same problem. I have a new motor, and the idle drops sometimes and it goes into jackass mode and wont rev worth ****, and it has no power. Then you drive it for a bit, and it comes around and drive great. Do you always have problems with your idle staying up when you start it cold? Does it backfire a lot? Buck on decel when its still in gear? Those were issues i was/am having. You might want to adjust your TPS, I did that and got rid of all of those issues except the cold idle problem.

the problem seems to of fixed itself now, I'm not sure why. Cold starts and so forth are fine, plus when i did put the engine in i checked my TPS and it was within spec. Hopefully the car will remain runnign fine.
Did you remove your air pump and your emission stuff too?

I gutted my main cat cause it was clogged as hell. I still have the airpump in there, but I disconnected it so its not doing anything. Did you ever seem to have a problem with flooding? Or fouling plugs really really quick?
