Wierd Problem

I was sitting in the drive-thru line at McDonalds , the longest line I have ever waited in BTW (ha ha ). and it seems as if when I have my heater on the exhaust emits alot more smoke then the usual, anyone else had this problem, or have any idea what might be f'd up.

I'm thinking it would be a coolant leak somewhere, But I don't know where to tell you to begin looking.

I think if it was a coolant leak, my temps would have been high, but I was idling for at least 15 mins, and they stayed normal.


Like I said its just wierd cause I only noticed it with the heater on, I shut it off and the smoke disapeared

might just be a bit rich. maybe an el unit thing or at idle with the heater on the charging system is making weak voltage causing a weak ignition cycle. can't say it's a problem i have seen before. so it always smoke some?

The reason I guess coolant is because it does run through the heater core. Other than that, I don't know how it would come out the exhaust. But usually a sign of burning coolant is whiteish smoke, Don't ask how I know.

thats sounds like it might be it , because the car also acts funny with the A/C on, I think its time for a new alternator

get a multi meter and stick it to the batt when it is runnning it should be ~14 volts. i bet it drops with a load on
