Why so many FD's with engine fires?

Why so many FD's with engine fires?
lately I've been seeing lots of FD's on eBay and misc. salvage places with Engine fires.. what is up with that? Is it just a fluke that I've seen so many, or do they have a problem with igniting things under the hood?
