What really pisses me off is the amount of chicks that tend to think "good looking" cars are porsches. I have a habit of debadging whatever cars I have and the fd along with others always get the "is that a porsche" question. Which REALLY hurts me the most because i HATE porsches they are the most boring vw bug with a bodykit cars out there ARGH.

I do agree that alot chicks do think this car is a Porsche. Maybe it's because of it's curvature.

IF you get laid because of your car, then something is obviously wrong. A real man can get laid even with a Geo Metro.

Lets see, I've had my eye set on the 3rd Gen Rx7 since i totaled my acura rsx. The one I picked up had front end damage because it hit a tree.

I'm so in love with the look of this car and the reviews i've heard, that i've dumped now 15000 rebuilding the car, this includes a rebuilt engine, a JDM front clip that was welded on to replace the damaged portion, a slick blue paint job, and various other parts.

Its almost done now, hopefully within the next 2 weeks. It's been a year waiting for it, and i can't wait to take it out on the street.

I don't think theres a car out there that rivals this car and the attention it demands and deserves from whoever owns it or even looks upon it. May the RX-7 live on forever on the road and in our hearts

ps. someone should create a petition to mazda to have them make like an anniversary edition of the car. It'd be nice to once again see the car under the lens of how it was originally produced off the production line.

I had always been into muscle cars when I was younger, dream car was a '67 Mustang fastback. My husband bought an RX8 and I thought it was nice. We did a meet up with RCCAZ and I saw a CYM. I knew right then that the Mustang did not stand a chance to the FD. About 2 years later and now we have the FD.
Funny story, I had the car at a car wash to get a chip repaired on the window. An older gentleman was waiting for his car as the kid drove the FD around to me. The older gentleman was eying the car and the attendant handed me the keys and mentioned that all his guys just love my car. The next attendant drives up with the older gentlemans brand new Porsche and just hands him his keys. Nothing about how great his car was. He got a sour look on his face and took off.
I love my car!

everything you guys have said has made me fall in love with my car even more, I haven't had a chance to drive it since early november due to get the turbos rebuilt and this god awful nebraska weather we've been having, but this weekend it looks like I will finally be able to get it finished and take if for a drive. I found my car through the mechanic that my family has been taking our cars to for years. I was talking to him about getting a new car and I was asking him if he knew much about working with rotaries because I really wanted an FD. He said he had some experience with them as another customer of his owned one and brought it in for work from time to time. Well I was looking at a CW FD in Texas, but I wanted to drive one first to experience it and make sure I would fit comfortably (I'm a big guy at 6'1 270). I got his number and called him up. He didn't answer so I left a message asking if I could look at his car and maybe take it around the block. A few days later he called back and said he was actually considering selling it and I could come drive it. I was so excited. I went over to his house and I will never forget the feeling I had seeing it for the first time, glistening in the sunlight after a fresh wash. I pulled up, talked to him for a bit, and he asked if I wanted to take it for a drive. I couldn't believe I was getting a chance to drive a car I had seen maybe three or four times before. Sitting in it I started it up, and my heart skipped and my adrenaline rushed. I pulled out and with the windows down and the sunroof open I took off down the road. I pulled on to a main road and he told me to punch it, I couldn't believe he was letting me. Feeling the surge of acceleration that those twin snails and two triangles provided, I knew this was the car for me. A few weeks later and she was mine and I have never looked back. Not through needing a new clutch and flywheel, or getting the turbos rebuilt, not once. I fell in love with this car at first sight, and I can not see myself ever selling it except for another FD.

I know some guys who swap LS1s into RX7s, and they just don't understand why I won't do it. It's almost impossible to put into words. It's something that no evo, sti, Z, camaro, or any other sports car owner will ever be able to understand.

My FD is my heroin. I'm a rotorholic boost-junkie, and that's all that can be said.

Mazda hit a design home-run with the FD, too bad the market wasn't there to support it.

I am italian: we love cars, we have speed and power in our veins, we build (I can say that...) the better cars in the world, like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani...
I've see a lot of car, big, powerful, wonderful... I've seen the shocking Reventòn, the fantastic Countach, the F40, the F50, the Zonda R...

But the FD is something that go straight to my hearth.

Is a unique beuatiful: like we say with a mate, japanese cars thend to be "male", like 300zx, Skyline, MR2, Supra... Big muscles showed, big engine, aggressive design.
The FD is a WOMAN: she had grace, elegance... Something no ather car have.
And is powerful... Where Sky or Supra are "hammer", FD is like a sword...

I fell in love with her with NFS:Undergrond 2, and when I first meet her in person... wow... he definitly steal my hearth...

And in 28 days she will be mine, at last...

Haha, awesome! I always love hearing stories like that haha.

Gordon, I also think it's cool how you love the FD most of all the high class cars you've driven. That means alot.

Gordon, you're going to need to add on to your Taj Mahal of a garage.

I wish my FD had come along in a different way. My brother bought it from a guy in Florida almost four years ago. He came down with Meningitis and passed away while it was at the body shop three years ago, so I took it over. He had a Chargespeed widebody being put on and the roof being repaired after having the hood fly up on him one day. I'm not really into body kits too much so I want to take it off, but at the same time I would like to finish what he started. I'm torn. The times I've driven it though gave me a feeling I've not had before. I've had fun with some other cars, like my dad's '70 El Camino SS 454, but the adrenaline seems to flow a lot more with the FD.

I think that the FD is more than the average sports car because as we all agree, its exterior and interior design are timeless but also because it is unreliable.

The reason why it being unreliable makes it more than the average sports car is because 99% of people are not willing to deal with the car's negative traits and therefore it did not sell well in the US thus making it rare.

The FD is just an amazing car it has timeless looks, great handling, the jet like seats. The one thing that always sticks out in my head is I have never met an ex FD owner that was happy about getting rid of there FD. Its just trully hard to go up in performance or looks from this car.

From where I sit I think it's because our FDs are true sports cars; not "sporty" cars like so many multi-platform performance cars these days. That's what I love about them; they have a singularity of purpose that I admire in this world of multi-tasking and multi-function. The FD was a purpose-built car for driving fast. Really fast, nothing else. And I like to go fast.

It doesn't hurt that they're good looking as hell too. :-)
