Like 4 people on this forum are hard core drag guys.

The rest of us wanna have a fast car for the street and prob visit the track like twice a year. We dont need a seperate forum for drag, we have something already associated with it and i think thats good enough IMO.

Plus we're always trying to find ways to make our cars run properly and we have to talk about drag?? LOL

I agree that these cars were not ment (built) for drag racing but, which car was?? I don't believe Toyota, Honda or Mitsubishi built their cars knowing the owners were going to pull them apart and drag race. I have not had the opportunity to go down the track in a 9 sec car but, I did attend a pro drag event and just the feel of the motor's idle resonating off my chest, the sound and the awsome power was a big rush for me! If some of you guys have not had the opportunity to attend one of these events, I promise you, it's an experience like no other. To make a long story short, we talk about FD's and what we do with them here and, drag racing is something that some of these guys do with these cars. Add the forum!

I hate drag racing but can still appreciate it. ****, the shop I work at has a 8.0 @ 177 ET Supra. Personally I would have bought a Supra if I wanted to go fast in a straight line and flex my *****. heh. I love seeing high hp RX7's as well but I enjoy the ones that run on the street and go to the circuits or road racing. I dont think a drag racing forum would hurt though. I think it might be a bit desolate.

Replace the kills section with it. Probably be some overlap, but it makes more sense than having a section which seems only devoted to illegal and dangerous behavior.

Every car forum i'm on has a drag racing sub-forum. Most owners have done the '1320 at least once and most probably go at least once a year. Those that get serious about it have to take a different path with thier modifications and there is a lot of knowledge to be spread. There is no reason it would hurt the board to try it out, if its dead and sucks then you can always archive and remove it. Theres enough interest in this thread alone to warrant at least a trial run. Just my humble opinion.

IMO, I don't think this forum has enough "serious" Drag Racers to have a dedicated section for it. However, it wouldn't hurt.

I would be opposed to having a Drag Racing section in each Generation forum. It should be a sub-forum in the Race Tech section *if* one is created. Even then, if there is going to be a Drag Racing section, there may as well be a Drift section as well.

You're right, I think the sub-forum should be created in the main forum instead of creating individual forums per generation.

Drifting Forum? If there's enough interest that's fine but I think most FD owners think that's a bit Fast & Furiousish.

Funny you should mention that. Wasn't it the first F&F that had cars racing in a straight line? The other ironic part of all three movies was that the FD was one of the main cars in each movie. I think anyone who doesn't know much about the RX-7 would think it to be a little Furiousishnessed.

However, I think Lupe may be right about the sub-forum. Drift, Drag or AutoX/Road Race, the FD performs well in all three catagories and owners should have a place to discuss it.

The reason I mentioned it is that the forum "Drifters" have been lobbying for their own subforum for about a year now. If a Drag Racing sub-forum is added, they will demand one as well.

i too would like to see a sub-forum for drag racing.....but.....i have to agree with Mahjik in that this would open up a can of worms with 'other' kinds of racing sub-forums. that is why its best to just generalize the forums for everyone. my $0.02

Well, they could throw the road-racing guys and drifiting guys in the same forum (Race car tech) and create another forum for us serious drag racers.

We need this.

Exactly, Im not totaly against the idea of having a drag-race forum but if it happens, mods will also have to carry out other group requests as well and then you have a bunch of sub forums that the majority of users will not visit.

Well, then get rid of the forums that aren't being used. This is something we need to try. There are enough people that drag race here to support a drag racing forum. Look how many people have posted in the timeslip threads......

You're not serious about this question, are you? I seriously don't think racing in a straight line started in 2001 or wenever the first F&F movie came out. I think we could gain more knowledge from the set up and testing of the parts used on drag cars.

For the same reason you don't want to use the "Race Car Tech" forum for Drag racing, the drift guys don't either. From their perspective, they need it too.

If we can put all the "what will my car run with these mods" threads in this DR section then I'm for it. All the wheel hop threads would go there too I imagine.

That's fine. Make a drifting forum too. I know which one will last.

Trust me, more knowledge will be gained from the drag racers forum than the drifting forum.

That's not my point. Here are my points:

1. The drifting guys have been asking for a forum for quite a while
2. Well, it doesn't exist yet so that doesn't show much promise for a drag forum
3. If the drag forum is added, they will certainly add a drift forum as well
4. The drift guys share your same passion and enthusiam for their sport as you do for yours

While you may not like drifting (or other sport cars events), you shouldn't dismiss or ignore them. Why? Well, you are asking the forum not to do the same for your passion (i.e. not ignore it but embrace it) so you need to be tolerant of others.

While I'm not a drifting fan, I will say that it does now have it's place in auto sports. AND, there are far more people that can sprint a car down a straight away verses ones who can perform drifting techniques without totalling their cars. You might be surprised at what goes into that sport besides flashy paint jobs and non-matching rims on the same car...

very true and funny as hell!!

I didn't get it until I helped build a drift car and went to a local event...

I just think tons of great information can come out of the drag racing forum. Most of the drag racers have experimented and know what it takes to make big reliable power out of a rotary.

By adding a drag racing forum, you can combine the knowledge of both 2nd gen and 3rd gen timeslip forums. I don't see why we have seperate timeslip forums per generations anyways?

Why not keep it all together?

Plus, you could gain a drag racing forum sponsor like Mickey Thompson/Nitto etc. etc.
