why does my exhaust temp warning light come on all the time

ok so i have had the car for afew days now it has aftermarket exhaust including 3" downpipe and a turbo timer for mods. previous owner was a lawyer and he has all records for it. I drive the car hard or take it easy on it and the light and fans come on when i turn it off no matter how long i drive it. is this normal?

i just flushed radiator and used 30%coolant 1 bottle of redline water wetter and distilled water. i hear boiling soun comming from radiator. i did search and found out it is mostly normal and people use fc thermoswitch question is where to buy it from im looking on google and no luck. what are some good places to buy mods for the car from this site has very few banner advertisers and i want to start modding my car but dont know who to call or order from. i need brakes and suspension where should i look ??

thanks in advance

Joe

oh and by the way this started out as just a car while im down here in west central Texas but it appears to be a big project.

i think the fans coming on after shut down is normal. there was a factory recall to run the fans after you shut down the car to try and cool the coolant so that the coolant o-rings wouldn't get toasted.

as for the light, no idea.

that means your running to lean. the exhaust pipes are getting hot because of the egt. wiht the mods your running I'd see if your either creeping on the boost and its leaning it out or one of your injectors has called it quits and your starving for fuel. I wouldn't drive it if it keeps happening or you might have a rebuild coming up.

there is allot of black carbon buildup on the tip of the exhaust which would lead me to believe it is runing rich. how accurate are the 50 $ A/F meters that tap into the o2 sensor ??

The exh overheat light is a result of the cat getting too hot, usually from running rich - fix the rich running and the light should disappear.

Don't know about the A/F meter...

not worth the $50 - If it were my motor I'd save up and get a real wideband

when i get off wprk today i will take out plugs to check them. i thought it would run cooler if it was runing rich since fuel would not burn off as much
