Why cant i bleed my clutch?!
I just rebuilt my motor a few days ago and put it back into the FD, when i pulled the motor i noticed that the clutch was near shot so i bought another from Autozone, it had the new rings, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, full kit. My friend pumped the petal while we had the motor out and it pushed the piston off the slave cylinder so it started leaking brake fluid. I managed to put the piston back in but when i try to bleed the system (motor is in now) the petal goes to the floor and makes virtually no pressure however much i pump it. I tryied gravity bleeding it, just opening the drain **** and waiting for something to come out but after 5 minutes it was still dry so now im completely out of ideas. PS i read the manual on how to bleed the system and thats how i did it, didnt work for me though. I did loose a lot of fluid but i've kept the brake fluid resevour full. Also now the motor wont turn over as if the clutch is ingadged even when i throw the shifter in neutral. Wont shift into first or second. Im going to check the wires going into the tranny and the fluid level but no tranny fluid came out durring the rebuild. Im confuzed, pissed off because im so close to having it running and now completely lost. Please help!

Since the piston came out it sounds like the slave cylinder and/or master cylinder is full of air. Get a small vacuum pump like a Mity-Vac. Crack open the bleed valve and use the pump to suck fluid from the the slave cylinder until you get a constant flow of fluid coming out. At that point it should bleed normally. If it doesn't I would highly suspect that the seal on the piston was damaged when you re-inserted it.

lol honestly i feel really stupid, i just went out and gave it 20 more pumps and it started working. Just remember guys, if it doesnt work after 300 pumps just give it 20 more before you say anything

gravity bleeding it will help save some time also. just open the master cap, open the bleeder and leave it till you get a nice steady flow of fluid out of it. then procede with bleeding it.
try not to let the master run dry

If anyone reads this in the future, a pressure bleeder (like the one at http://motiveproducts.com) is quick solution to bleeding the clutch hydraulics when there is a lot of air in the system. It is my favorite way to bleed the brakes, too.

i forgot i own an FD
I'm having the exact same problem...just put in my engine and clutch went to the floor. I've got a act hd pp. After putting the push rod back into the clutch release cylinder and bleeding the system, was your clutch still soft?
Was there a gradual change in the pressure? Or did you just keep pumping and then it eventually worked? Was the clutch not disengaging at all before and the pedal was just soft or was it soft and the clutch was disengaging?
I'm hoping I didn't put in the disk the wrong way. Is there any way to confirm w/out dropping the tranny?

If your disc is in backwards, you wont be able to put it in gear from a stop, you'll have to shut the car off and restart it. I saw this happen on an FD once, you'll definitely know if the disc is in backwards.
