Who's had problems with their driver side window switch?

Looks like my second one is going too.

Symptoms:

Works occassionally.

WHen I pull it out and flex the wires and connectors it will temporarly fix the problem.

I am not sure if it is the male/female connectors are at the switch level.

Also, I am not sure if the occasional rain drops (when I was driving the windows partly cracked) on the switch had something to do with it's apparent demise.

What do you think is the culprit?

mine broke too, but it wasnt the electrical connections that caused it, it was the plastic piece that moves the contacts that separated from the part you operate. I replaced mine with a window switch from a second gen. Its wierd but the wiring harness and the the whole switch fits in the hole pretty smug. You wouldn't know its the wrong switch unless somebody told u. Now it works great, and it is probably cheaper to find somebody parting out a second gen to get theirs. Hope that helps.

How do u tell if the plastic switch broke?

For some reason I think in both cases water and the subsequent corrosion was the culprit.

Jpandes, my smog connection is stopping further "smog" tests for these reasons:

1. too hard and too much of a hassle to fake one on the dyno machine

2. The fines, losing his license, and jail time is not worth the $$$. To make it worth it he says that he would charge $1000+ and at that price ur better off making ur car legal.......
