whoops, how do I put the alternator back together?

So, I decide to take it apart to replace the brushes and paint the housing and stator. I'm all done it's dried in the sun for two days. I get the new screws. oh, I never replaced the brushes cause you have to melt off the solder and resolder the stator and my cheapy soldering wand won't get that hot. So I slide the center magnet down in to the hole and it stops. I pull it out and realize I have to retract the brushes. I don't want to pay to have it rebuilt.

There is a small hole in the back, just on the outside of the center. There is a hole in the bottom of the brush as well. Push the brush in and put a paper clip into the hole from the rear and it will hold the brush in. Then reinstall the "innards" and remove the paper clip.

D'oh!! Too slow

Take a paper clip, straighten it, stick it in the little hole on the back side of the alternator case.( by the brushes) Then push the brushes down with another tool and you will fell the paper clip push in farther, Do the same to the next brush. When they are both held down install the rotor and front case. Then remove the paper clip. Pretty easy.
