Who wants BMW HID's on their FD? I can do ONE more retrofit...

Hey guys, I just finished up my HID retrofit on my FD and have some parts left over for just ONE MORE conversion. These are for BMW OEM projectors in your stock housings. These are ONLY low beams. Will have a cut-off and won't blind people of course. You'll need to use fogs for highs I guess. (Oh and if you want to get technical, no they won't be legal, but who's FD is anyway )

It will be for $300+ return shipping WITHOUT the ballasts. *You need to send me your stock housings.*

If you want me to pick up the ballasts it'll be an additional $185-215/pair. This is for used but in good condition Hella ballasts with built in ignitors. I wouldn't use anything else. If you want brand new ballasts they are $260/pair. I'm not making anything on these, they're sorta pricey everywhere.

This will include:

1.) Fitting/mounting/sealing the OEM BMW projectors in your housings
2.) Custom shrouds for projectors
3.) Bulb retainer rings for projectors
4.) 1 pair of OEM 4100k D2S bulbs
5.) 1 pair aftermarket 8000k D2S bulbs
6.) Wiring harness/relay -instructions
7.) Technical support

Remember I can only do this for FD housings and I can only do it for ONE lucky person.

I'll try to post up pics of my set-up later or tomorrow, although they are different projectors. But you'll get an idea of what they will look like...

Thanks.

-Mike

Ok, I just took these. They are different bigger projectors from an audi. The BMW ones that I will use are smaller in diameter.

So that would make three FDs in socal with BMW projectors in their headlight housings. I sold my old set to Efinity on this forum and I'm making a set for myself if my car doesn't sell this week.

Did you cut the fiberglass housing for extra projector clearance? Makes you itchy, huh? $300 seems like a lot to a buyer but there's a lot of work involved as we both know.

I like the idea, but I'd think if someone could make clear lenses, they'd improve the beam pattern, and look 100% better....

Hey what's up Derek!

Yeah of course a clear lense would be nice, but the beam pattern is still very nice. Trust me, from what crappy lights we have as stock a little fuzzy cutoff line on a wall is not gonna be a concern with doing this mod. The light output is literally night and day. (stock vs. HID)

Also, as far as 'looking' 100% better with a clear lense...your right, but that's only if the lights are up during the day which I never do or when your up close to it at night when they're on.

BTW, you can sand down the fluted lense if you really want to. But from what I hear your supposed to do it by hand and it takes forever...

Well, yes because it's curved / beveled, a sander would try and make it level...
Have you seen the clear lens covers for the RE-Amemiya / Rotary Extreme Lights !? Pretty Sharp...
Maybe you can talk to those guys, and see whom they use to make their lens system. And didn't I hear that the Euro Lights have less Fresnel Lens elements in them = Clearer !?

Sure I'm gonna do that tonight...I'll try to get a vid of it driving up as well.

Btw, I do want to mention again that my set-up uses Audi projectors...so the output will be a little different. But, it should give you guys a good example of how it would turn out in general.

cool idea, looks like a lot of wind could get up under that head light cover at high speed and rip it off though...

I just haven't had a chance to put the black plastic bezel back on...I'll probably do that tonight if it makes you feel better.

I'm sort of looking for something similiar a while back ago I saw it in a mag. it had two projection lights set high allowing the covers to open halfway (sleepy/lazy eyes) and before you guys start bashing on the sleepy eye let me explain. I'm not a fan of the c west lights set up just because I like the stock set up down and how they make the hood look like one solid clean sleek piece but at night the pop ups sit up so high it kind kills the sleek look I'm looking for. going to cwest light setup just reverses the role looks sleek and nice at night but in the day it loses the sleekness. sorry for hi jacking if anyone knows what kit i'm talking about please email me brokencarguy@yahoo.com to avoid any further jacking

Very interested here. Just to be clear, for a complete "kit," I pay $560 (including ballasts) and send you my stock housings.

Get a pic of the beam pattern and confirm the above, and I'll jump on them. How much installation will this involve? I don't have to worry about anything melting, right?

Dibs...

There is no "kit" for the two projection housings/"sleepy eye" setup. Those are totally custom pieces fabricated by hand. I'm probably going to fab a setup myself for my FD in the future.

hey, i was with mike when he did this entire conversion and it look us a few days! one day, we worked at my house from 11 am to 9 pm!! and thats one of 3 day's that was work!! after he was done, there was still adjusting involved!! if you count labor alone at $10 an hour, that would make easily $200 worth of labor!! it was hard too!!

i think i know what you are talking about, is it my car:

i should let you know however that for mine, just the low beam HID's cost $989 and the 2 catz fog lights that are not made anymore cost about $150-200... thats $1200 for only parts!! and my car and his side by side make no difference in lighting!! his are awesome and i like mine and all but he can drive it without worrying! i have to stop and shut off the lights when i see a cop!!

Think about that!!

Even with our fluted lenses the light output is still vastly improved over the stock lighting. This is a pic of my old lights and Pandaz's lights will probably be just as sharp.

Price seems insanely high.

I did 2 headlights from start to finish in about 2 hrs. It is not hard at all, and it was the first time I've ever done this. Adjustment is no different than adjusting the normal halogen headlamps.

Hey guys, I took some really crappy pics, the quality was on very low. But anyway, check it out. Should give you an idea of the output through our stock lenses. These are Audi projectors.
