My plug wires are looking shot and are due to get changed out, and my dad has a set of the taylors brand new sitting in the garage. Back in 2000 or so I had these wires on the car and they failed after only a few thousand miles, according to kdrotary (this was back in the days before i did my own work). I've run stock wires since.
To those running them, how long have you had them? Any issues?

Rich, stock wires are the only ones that I've come across that I like the fit and held up. Dave used to recommend them but then stopped because they didn't last very long. The MSD wires are nice, but as I rememeber they weren't cut to length properly (some to short some too long) Racing Beat are ok, but expensive. Fit wasn't perfect. Magnacore suck. They don't clip on very well.
NGK makes high-end race wire called "Power Cables"
The part # is 04Z & the stock # is 9282

has them for $92.17 a set.
Same great fit (including foam protector & plastic spiral wrap) as the stock NGK's, but a special core & red ends.
I also got some stickers & a hat. For $92 I would rather had a set of plugs.
I had some issues with MSD wires. The leading wire shorting out at the end connected to the coil at high rpms. It literally lit up under my throttle body during a dyno run & gave me a high rpm miss.
I had a set of Magnacore 10mm wires prior to that, but split the spark plug boot during a plug change.
I got the NGK's & problem solved

it seems like the taylor failure experiences i've had all had high-po ignition, while the wires didn't have a problem with the stock ignitions.
i used accel 8.8's on my fc for like 3 years and they were fine right up until the car got stolen. that was stock coils with an fc1000.

I wonder if the MSD failure was a result of the wire being to short. I remember really having to stretch at least one of the wires to get it on. I had taylors on a stock ignition car and they lasted less than a year.

i'm down with the 8.8's, but they're kinda hard to find. i'm currently using msd 8.5 race wires (and have on a few cars in the past) and they're doing fine.
