Who here has actually used ATF to help lube apex seals? How did it work?

I came across this article : http://www.mazspeed.com/atf.htm

It describes a technique of using ATF to help lube and maintain apex seals. I'm considering trying it - but I'm wondering if anyone has done it and experienced negative side-effects?

Thanks,
-Charlie

It got my motor working, I wouldn't run at all and now it does but only on the front rotor.

i would only suggest it to try and start a non starting engine with low compression, otherwise stick to 2 stroke oil for protection concerns with internal lubrication.

case in point, i tore down my 24k mile engine that had been premixed it's whole life and there was absolutely no carbon stuck on the rotors or apex seals.

Did you premix and have an operating OMP? Just curious. BTW, good to "see" you again Karack, I don't get to read your post as often since I went from FC to FD.

atf will destroy the oil seals on the rotors if let soak in there... try it out on a loose seal and see what it does!

I would recommend MMO instead if you need to do it.

MMO is basically a belnd of ATF and a few other lubricants and detergents, no real difference.

i didn't run an OMP with my engine, i just premixed at a little over 100:1

it says to let soak for a day, is this too long? will this ruin the oil seals or should it be fine?

Why did you tear it down with only 24k?
