who has their FD insured on weekends?
who has their FD insured on weekends?
i have a 91 crx that is my daily driver and i also have a 93 r1. since i only drive the 7 on special occasions i have decided to insure it on weekends to cut the cost of insurence down. just wondering how many of u other guys are doing this.
I was putting 8,000 a year on mine. But I had it covered as a regular car. At the time I was working shift work (two on two off)and car pooling. So I only had to drive to work every other week. And my buddy would drive the other week. It saved on milage and gas for sure.

Mine is also insured as a Pleasure Vehicle, however I didn't ask to have that done. When my wife and I got married, I switched to her insurance company and that's what they set up.
My FD is not a daily driver, so it's no big deal.

Same here i have my FD insured under pleasure vehicle and have a daily driver to off set the insurance rates. I only drive the FD if its nice out on the weekends and if the weather isnt up to par then it stays in the garage. My daily driver costs as much as my FD to insure and thats a 88 Honda CRXsi. I pay $1,700per year not to bad i guess, i dont have any points etheir.

My CRX is my daily driver (most of the time)and my RX-7 is my weekend vehicle. I get a multi' car discount and the RX-7 is considered or insured as a pleasure vehicle or whatever term your insurance calls it.
The CRX is actually more money and since yours is smaller than mine, yours is even more to insure. The 90-91 is larger than the 88 CRX. The smaller the vehicle, the more expensive because of medical payment risk for the insurance company.
The 94 RX-7 gets discounts: 2 airbags (93's only have 1), anti-lock brakes, Teletrack theft recovery system (and it's larger than the CRX).

You will still be insured, what they are talking about is cut the road coverage.
As for myself I stop the road coverage on winters only, although I have a preiva to drive around, I usually drive my FD (not in winter) even in rainy days.

Stop the road coverage?
That must be something in the states that have snow. We don't winter store cars in CA.
Basically you can't drive two cars at the same time. So instead of paying full price for both, they give you a discount.
It would work even better if you had a regular mid size sedan for work and the RX7 for pleasure (dates, weekends, getways, etc). Doesn't seem to work with a motorcycle though (bastards). The CRX is also a sports car (surcharge), so it's not as much of a discount as it would be for an Accord as the daily driver.
My CRX isn't so much a daily driver as it is my backup ride when the RX7 is in the race shop.
