Who has the AVCR hooked up

Hey guys I need a favor. I have a AVCR and it is not hooked up. When originally hooked up we could not get it to control boost. Ralph at excessive said he did not think the cylinoid was working correctly. What I need to do is find somebody that has the AVCR hooked up in their car and running. I would like to send you my cylinoid and have you substitute it for yours and let me know if it is working. I will send money with it for you to send it back.

Please let me know if you can help. I need something to control boost since my PFC does not seem to be controlling boost anymore, and I need something. I also do not want to buy another controller when I have a really good one now.

Thanks for your help.

Allan

u sure you have it hooked up right? we were installing a greddy profec type s on my friends car and thought it was messed up, but we had it hooked up wrong

the solenoid goes in between compressor and wastegate, and the line that goes to the back of the controller is a T off the fuel pressure regulator, than just power and ground on the main unit

You have a car battery right? you can test it yourself.

First, make sure it is hooked up correctly (compressor nipple goes to the "NO" port, and the "COM" goes to the wastegate/precontrol

Take it off and leave some hose attached so you can blow through it on the "NO" side. you should be able to blow through it without any voltage on it. Next, put 12v to it and try to blow again, you shouldn't be able to. If it passes that test, but you still think it it leaking, you need to find a source of compressed air to test it at 15psi.

BTW, as a safety precaution, limit the continuous time that it is hooked up to the battery just in case.

I might be backwards. crap! I might have to go out and check myself.

regardless, it should click when you supply power to it and one way you'll be able to blow, the other you won't.

^^ Yes, do this. It should be very easy to test the solenoid.

BTW, there are 3 outputs - NO, NC, and COM. COM is Common, NO is Normally Open, and NC is Normally Closed. Without power hooked up, if you blow through COM the air will come out of NO. Hook up 12v/ground, blow through COM, air will come out NC.

I seriously doubt something is wrong with the solenoid. The solenoids are VERY hardy - most problems with the AVC-R and other boost controllers come from not plumbing the solenoid and boost sensor in properly, and from not hooking up the wiring properly. Use the manual and take your time - go through everything. Setting it up can be confusing - this is not an "easy" boost controller, it's pretty advanced with tons of features. If it's too overwhelming, sell it and buy a Profec B - super easy setup and works.

BTW, I do plan on going to an AVC-R in the future - I had one on my FC back in the day and LOVED it. Best boost controller I ever owned.
