Mine is my daily driver, but I really do need a backup. As of now the car will still get parts installed and be off the road for a few days. I kinda wanna get a bike. With those of you with a crotch rocket is it hard to choose because now you have two fun things to drive?

For about a year my FD was my daily driver. The coolest part was I would race the car at local events, pack the slicks in the hatch, and drive straight to work with the slicks, work the overnight shift, then go home. That worked very well for some time. I would tell everyone I had a low 11sec daily driver! BUT>>> After a while the daily driving will take a toll on the car and the car is not the same. I now drive another vehilce as my daily driver and when I jump in the rx7 I really enjoy it!.
I drove the car to work today, just installed with the T78 and all I can say is WOW. I cant wait to run the car this weekend at Atco!!!!
I guess even though I have another car, my rx7 is still my daily driver unless it snows

I drive mine usually 4 days to work and either my REPU or my bike the other day. I try to take the REPU on really short trips like to the store but the 7 most of the time because it is more fun and has A/C. Much more than 10 minutes in the REPU or on the bike in 110 degree weather really sucks. In the winter the REPU, bike, and 7 all get about equal time except on out-of-town trips, then its the 7 again.
Ryan, you can afford the FD and another car. Get a beater for a couple hundred and your total insurance premium may go down. When I added the REPU to my policy the rates went down almost $20 a month, it is paying for itself.

Daily driver for 10 minutes from my home garage to the work garage. I'm looking for a backup. Wish I'd kept my FC as a second car. It was a better daily commuter. The FD is much faster but more of a pain to drive (not as silky smooth due to hesitations, turbo spool, and my 11lb flywheel) and less reliable. You can do snow (a couple of inches) with good all season tires and some weight in the back.

daily driver here...but I only go to school two days/week. The rest of the time I'm just cruising and going out with it. Let put it this way, if you don't plan on keeping the car FOREVER, then just drive it whenever you want to! I mean yes, yours will break faster than the weekend cars since you drive it more, but while those guys are staring at it as their cars are getting older, you're out having fun driving it and looking cool. I mean wouldn't you rather be looking cool in your 7 right now or would you want to wait until the 7 is older and not so cool anymore? Just my opinion.

it's not about being cool...if you ever been in bumper to bumper traffic you'll never want to drive a fd daily, especially with the hot sun since we all know how good the ac is...hey, i guess it is about being cool ;-)

Oh yeah, and the above does not apply to those who have an extra automatic car and finds getting stuck in traffic with their 7 to be a pain in the ***. But that's when you get the most headturns

Daily driver here. But I'm lucky because I am always going against peak hour traffic. Nothing funnier than doing a flat 4-5 shift at the redline when the cars on the other side of the highway are stationary 
I spend more time cooling down the turbo's than the time the actual trip took some days

Until this summer started I didn't drive the FD daily, now it sees 50 miles a day. Its actually not a bad daily driver, it hasn't given me any problems at all so far and with the stock clutch and flywheel its not too bad. However I try really really hard to avoid traffic cause even with the stock clutch it sucks majorly.

I've driven it every day from 1994 to 2000 exclusively
when it wasn't in the shop
2000 - 2002 shared with my Xterra. (I white water kayak and was strictly warned not to even think about putting a rack. on my 93 touring e.g. sunroof FD). I called around though to find someone who said it was cool No luck.
Now I don't use it at all because it blew an o-ring 2 months ago and I created a nightmare pouring every mod I could think of in it minus single turbo. Even my break in resulted in low boost issues and overheating so its now back in the shop after a few days of breaking in.
I agree. It's a great car to drive. I've taken it on many 1,000 mile+ tours even without any engine related problems. The notion of 'daily driver' only came up since I blew my engine and started browsing the boards for info. IT WAS ALWAYS my DAILY DRIVER. 100k by me.

but i'm giving her a break this coming semester. i'll be droming and seeing as school's within walking distance, she'll have plenty of time to receive that heart transplant. piston engine goes boing boing boing boing... and the mazda will do the same.
