Who can repair FD gauge clusters?

Is there anyone out there who repairs the FD gauge clusters? My odo light stopped working 8 months ago, and just a few weeks ago the speedo & tach died. This would be a nice niche to fill from some electronics guy.

I am interested in hearing the answer to this one too. I have a speedo that works up to 30 mph then quits. The speed sensor has been replaced but the problem still exists. All the other gauges are in working order though.

ive got a possessed tach as well.... i really dont feel like tearing into my tach myself if i can avoid it. maybe i should just suck it up and do it myself (but most likely ill just let it bounce around for the next 2 years)

If i only had the patience for something like this i could make a killing.

Anyways, i haven't heard anyone even thinking about fixing these. I know corvettes, especially C4's, have people that you can send your clusters into and they completely fix everything. I think it was around 300 or 350 dollars for the complete refurbish.

Does anyone know why, after putting in a replacement speedo, it goes straight to 20 mph?

I had a bad odometer, so I bought a used speedo...after putting the replacement speedo in, the speedo sits at 20 mph. Is there some sort of adjustment for this?

Thanks,

Ian

Aren't there any electrically competant folks out there? I know a few folks have fixed their own, but some of us aren't electrical-friendly.

There still doesn't seem to be a definitive "fix" for any of these problems...

I think it would be a little presumptious of someone to step forward and say they would take it on since there is a good chance they could only fix some of the clusters and not all. Your best bet would probably be to find a local electronics store, print off the writeups, and see what they think/can do to help you out. Personally without a tried and proven definite fix out there I wouldn't even consider sending my cluster to someone on the off chance they could fix it, but that's just me .

This is where I would start: http://www.nhspeedometer.com/. They're one of the best in the industry.

I had spoken w/ them for a bit, and the bottom line is they said they'd need to see the cluster in person. I haven't had a chance to source a spare 94 cluster and ship it to 'em, but if anyone on this thread is really interested in getting their cluster repaired, that's the place I would first try.

If anyone does, please post back and let us know what they say, cost etc. B/c if so, all of a sudden, I think there will be a sudden rush of ppl getting their clusters restored

I have a spare cluster with a nonfunctional tach (that was sold to me as a working one by a forum member). I'd be willing to ship it out.

^^^^ that fix did not work for everyone, only some people, read the entire thread and you'll notice that. Also the OP didn't want to know how to fix it, he's not very electrically inclined and wants someone to do it for him. Again I would not feel confident sending my cluster off to someone until there is a DEFINITE fix, if there is a 50/50 chance the person you send your cluster to can fix it it's just not worth it in my mind.

Hopefully ramy's contact comes through, there would be such a huge influx of clusters getting mailed off to them .

I'll offer my services for free in an attempt to fix one. I'm a EE degree grad and have some skills with circuits. I would take ONE - just pm me. No promises but my services would be free (who can complain about that). If I cannot fix it I'll just mail it back to the owner....
