However for a balanced look you can go with a 2-piece slotted rotor upgrade in the rear w/ stainless steel lines, Axxis brake pads, and some red or black caliper paint.

True, STOPTECH's prices are most reasonable IMHO.

Because that's an important feature......

If you go to Stoptech's website, you'll see that the calipers are anodized black. If you want a different color, I'm sure they'll accommodate you for more $$$.

Poweraxel 02-29-04 07:48 PM

If i remember correctly its an extra $200-250 for Red

seems pretty expensive!

VQracer 02-29-04 10:30 PM

Hmnnn I always thought red, black, and silver were standard colors.

Here's a quote for J Ritt on MY350Z.COM

They both take about a month to get as well.

Again,

I hear people yelling ...

"Group Buy!Group Buy!Group Buy!Group Buy!Group Buy!Group Buy!Group Buy!Group Buy!Group Buy!Group Buy!Group Buy!Group Buy!"

Can anyone start it?

I dont think Stoptech supports GB's but I will check. As soon as I have pricing I will post it.

Here's a good FAQ page on the brakes

95FD_VA 03-01-04 09:17 AM

When I ordered mine last week they said red would be an extra $200 and require a little more lead time. So I went with black. Reason being that the red was a two stage paint and required a little more time to make. I think black will look good enough with my vintage red anyway. I plan on getting some slotted rotors, stainless steel lines, upgraded pads and black caliper paint to balance out the rears.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no real stopping power advantage to having 6, 8, or 200-whatever-piston calipers. The only real reason that 6+ piston calipers are used by OE manufacturers such as Porsche is marketing, and that the brake pads last a little longer (which is why they're sold in many racing applications, since endurance racing is the usual intended usage). A properly designed and applied 4-piston caliper offers just as much stopping power as any 6-piston unit.

From what I've been told Stop Tech will not support group buys. So your right on that one.

You could also support your local rotary shops (local meaning on the forum), and get them from here.

I wonder how this kit would feel with a 929 Master Cylinder swap.

VQracer 03-02-04 07:55 AM

or maybe a FEED Master Cylinder?!?!

AlienHead 03-02-04 11:50 AM

Hey you could ask the nismo guys what they think;).

I've been shooting around some emails and is this a kit that will withstand roadracing for HPDE (hi perf driving schools) 25 minute thrashings? I hear that they have aluminum pistons in the calipers and aren't suitable for this type of occasional racing.

I am interested in the kit also.... but not if it can't eliminate brake fade/fluid boiling.

I assume it keeps the parking brake?

whoops. jumped the gun...

The kit is front only, so the parking brake certainly stays...:)

The issue of aluminum pistons was brought up in the previous thread started by the Stoptech rep. It was glossed over, to the dissatisfaction of some of us. Unfortunately, most of the people buying big brake setups have absolutely no need for them and wouldn't know what a road course looked like if it came up and bit them. Most people seem to be mostly concerned with the caliper color options available instead.

I hope this will answer your questions

StopTech currently has_roughly 20_cars running their brake kits in Speed World Challenge, Grand Am Cup, USTCC, etc._ The kits on these professional race cars are the exact same kits, with the exact same parts, that are included with_StopTech's street car kits._ J Ritt posted in a previous post that they had a 3 series BMW run their kit for a full 25 hour race, + practice and qualifying on a single set of rotors...25 minutes is nothing!_ http://www.stoptech.com/press_releas...underhill.htm_ Some good Motul RBF 600 fluid, combined with this kit and some good track pads...you'll have nothing to worry about on the track.

_

Aluminum pistons in an aluminum caliper are the optimal choice._ The expansion rates_of both parts as they heat up would be the same.

_

As for the colors, etc._ The $1795 kit comes in a black anodized finish._ Most of StopTech's 332 kits are painted and run for $1995._ After feeling out the market, J Ritt decided to offer the anodized as a cheaper option, per the requests on this board._ This is similar to what they offer for the RX-8. _Any of StopTech's standard colors can be had at the $1995 price point (red, black, silver), just like their kits for other vehicles._ Therefore, paint is not an extra charge...it should be thought of as the black anodized is a budget offering as requested.

_

Parking brake is maintained with the StopTech kit.

Here's the reason that I recanted my post that was going to link to the 25 hour race you refer to: you'll note that the press release only states that the car used StopTech's rotors-- not the calipers, which is what Mark was referring to. There is only one instance in all of the press releases on the site that specifically states that the race car was using the StopTech calipers.
