Yep, a bad coolant seal will let coolant into the combustion chamber, and can foul the plugs, and create clouds of white smoke. Maybe you should suggest that the mechanic pressure test the coolant system and see if it leaks internally. And pull the spark plugs to check for coolant.

If it turns out to be a coolant seal, and you want to prolong the engine life (or at least try), put some stop leak stuff in your coolant. At least its worth a shot if your alternative is a rebuild.

I'll mention that to the mechanic tomorrow.

Will the stop leak harm my radiator in any way if I decide to try that.

Thanx

Paw thanks for your previous help...

I picked up my car from Mazda today ( actually I flatbedded it away). After 3 days the mechanic hadn't diagnosed the problem yet. I got fed up and brought the car home. I'm convinced that they have no idea what they're doing. The mechanic was working on other (easier jobs) rather than mine.

I pulled the plugs out and they are soaked with fuel. So the car is flooding overnight. I'm not loosing coolant or oil. What would cause the car to flood overnight???

your injectors could be leaking.

That's what I was thinking. I'll do a search on the subject. Any links would be helpful.

Just a suggestion... if plugs from both rotors are covered in fuel and fouled, I doubt its leaky injectors. Whats the liklihood of two injectors starting to leak at the same time?

Maybe you need a new map sensor? It sounds like it might be a map sensor problem, but I guess it could be a lot of other things too.

Go from the easiest to the hardest. Map sensor is easier than the injectors to get to.

Try getting a used MAP sensor. The Haltech and some of the PFC and other standalone ECU guys usualy go with a 3 Bar MAP sensor so they should be able to sell you theirs. Try putting up a post in the FS section to see if you can find one.
