I just got my rebuilt engine back in and it wont start. Well it started once then died and wont start again. When I try to crank it over sometimes all the power will turn off but if I leave the key in the on position it will turn back on in like 10 sec? any ideas?

 

Check your battery connections for corrosion. That will sometimes cause symptoms like yours.

 

^ i have a similar problems, for the corrosion do you just sand down the part that goes on the terminal to clean it up?

 

Yea, Check battery connections, If not that I had very similar problem that turned out to be the ignition switch. (Damn ignition switch had my car down for like 3 weeks while I was searching for the problem)

 

Bad battery terminal connection or drained/dead/dyning battery. The behavior you described is precisely what happens when the battery is weak (or appears weak due to a bad connection).

Check the connections. Clean them and reinstall. If they are loose, fix them. If the terminals are well connected and it still does what you described, charge the battery. If it still does it after that, get a new battery.

If there is something preventing the engine from turning easily, fix that.
