Where is the odometer information stored?

Where is the odometer information stored?
I think its in the ecu, but im not sure, if anyone knows let me know

I'm pretty sure it's not the ECU. When I changed to my PowerFC, my mileage didn't change. If I had to guess, I would say in the dash electronics, in non-volatile memory of some kind.
