Where to mount aftermarket FPR?

I am upgrading to 1600cc injectors and of course an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator. I'm looking for a place to mount it. I am still on sequential stock twins, so that rules out the wastegate/precontrol solenoid mount.

The only place that I can think to mount it is over by the brake reservoir, on the shock tower. But I don't think it looks very good there. I also thought about putting it where the air pump goes, but that is a lot of extra line and I don't like the idea of it being that close to the turbos. Any other suggestions?

I like that spot, but I am still sequential and that real estate is already spoken for by part of the rats nest and the pressure chamber. Thanks though.

Here's a pic of pretty much what my engine bay looks like currently:

Edit: probably should have shrunk that picture a little more.

why are you getting the 1680's if your still running stock sequential... getting a set of 1300's would be much more suited to your application and you wouldent have the transition hesitation

Are you certain that a top feed fuel rail will fit with the pressure chamber and solenoids down there? You're definitely going to have to get rid of the ACV. Here's a few pics to get you thinking. Notice what area the top feed rail occupies.

You could shave down a little room by using banjo fittings on the new rail but I'm not sure it's going to fit very well without moving a good bit of stuff around.

If you think you're running out of fuel and just need a little more, pick up someone's 850s and put them in your primary rail, or get your secondaries bored out a little. You don't really need more than that with the twins.

Geez people, I'm not retarded, I have been around a little while.

I will eventually go with the new BNR stage 3s or a GT35R, but for now I plan on running 14-15 psi on the twins w/o 100% duty cycles.
ACV is already gone along with all non-essential solenoids.
I'm pretty sure that it will fit in there. It'll be tight no doubt.

Looks like the shock tower it is...

I have mine where you said you don't want it...
made a bracket and put it on the waterpump housing thread thats empty because of the airpump being removed. I have a single turbo so its not really that close even to the front of the turbo just kinda floating out there dont think heat is that much of an issue for it
I can get a pic if you're interested

Also, I installed the rail tonight, it DOES fit.

Sorry about that.. you don't see a lot of people this and keeping the twins.

If I remember correctly vosko mounted his FPR directly to the rail (firewall side) by screwed the fitting on the rail directly to the FPR. I did a quick search for pictures but couldn't find one. I know it's on this forum somewhere. Here's a similar one to give you an idea of what he did.

np. I figure within a year or so I'll actually need some decent fuel requirements. I'm just trying to get this out of the way now and work out any bugs.

Thanks! I never thought of that, but I think space would still be an issue. It looks like that is an aftermarket LIM, I'll try to see if a stocker is accommodating.

Yeah, that isn't a stock LIM but I know a few folks have done it with stock manifolds. PM Vosko about his setup.. He keeps pics of everything and I know he had a few. It's definitely possible and there shouldn't be much back there to get in the way.

It will fit. I couldn't get parts to adapt my FPR to the rail and still clear the firewall, so I mounted it 90deg from the picture above, parallel to the firewall. I think it will work out nicely because I can see my fuel pressure gauge underneath the UIM. Later on I might move it to the position shown above, but I am supposed to get my car tuned on Saturday so I don't have a lot of time. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

Thanks alot Dave. You've saved my butt twice now.

Cool.. I think it's a sneaky spot to stick it.

I had Steve tune it this weekend and there are ABSOLUTELY NO issues with transition. Plus I run 14+psi of boost at 48% duty cycle. No more maxing out injectors for me.

48%????????

that seems awefully low. I have 2 supra pumps 1600s and 850s and I am hitting 73% duty cycle at 14psi with a medium single turbo and mild porting.

Now that I think about it, that does seem pretty low. I'll have to double chack that, but regardless, I'm far from the 95%+ that I was running.

I went out today and payed a little more attention to it and realized that getting close to redline, I am running around 73% too.

RX-7Addict,
I am still sequential, so where you mounted yours, I have a pressure chamber.

Here is where I mine ended up. I'm not totally satisfied with it being suspended like a lever on the fuel rail, so I'll have to source out some fittings and mount it to the end. It does seem very secure though so I'm not too worried about it coming loose and leaking.

you must be making some nice power very good mate!
I think the highest I ever saw was 87% @22psi still kinda scary that this fuel system isn't overkill. Also not sure if it matters that I was on almost purely racegas for the duty cycle...

I put down 347rwhp (dynojet, uncorrected). So nothing too crazy.

As far as how it looks with the UIM on...you can hardly see it and there is still quite a bit of room back there. I'll post some pics later.
