Well mines is getting worse and I found a link where Mahjik had put up on how to change the 5th gear synchro. I feel I can tackle the job no issues but finding the parts is the issue.

I emailed Malloy mazda and no word from them, mazdatrix doesnt carry any as their website says. Maybe I should try calling them. Any Ideas guys where I can get one .

5th gear syncro part number

W501-17-725C ring, Sync
R503-17-550 Spindle
M501-17-309 Nut, Lock

We were able to get parts prices from Malloy for the rebuild/upgrade -- But after thinking about it, decided to get a JDM tranny from one of the JDM houses. Since we were going to pull the tranny anyway. Picked one up from the Miami JDM place for $295 add $100 shipping and it was still cheaper than the parts ( we needed to fix 2nd as well). Anyway, in and away plus the slightly lower 5th gear pulls great and we have an Extra shifter that came with the tranny.

Just another approach.
