MD When to get Boost Controller and/or ECU

My rx7 is currently in stock form and I will start modifying it soon. My first upgrades are going to be a catback exhaust system and downpipe. My next mod after this will be to get a high flow cat. What I am wondering is when would I need to pick up a boost controller and/or and ECU when modifying a rx7.

1. Electronic Boost controller - IMO, this should go along with the car in general. Even in stock form, the car can have boost spikes in cooler weather. The bonus is that if you purchase a EBC, they are more responsive than the stock system which makes the turbo system (when sequential) much more responsive.

2. ECU - When you want to run more than 10 PSI of boost (or swap out the stock twins for something else).

So really a EBC is all I need to keep from spiking when upgrading the intake and exhaust systems?

Porting the turbo wastegate helps too. But that's if you have your turbo off.

I agree, a good boost controller should be WAY up top on the mod list. The factory boost control is VERY slow and stupid, and even the slightest change in the car can result it in spiking.
