I had a raccoon go to town on my vaccuum lines once.. Ate all the vac lines and coolant hoses... I slept well knowing it probably died from the antifreeze...

It's nice that you found the good in the bad. I don't think having any "marment" chew on hoses, wires, etc... is a good thing.

Here are some old pictures of critters in a engine bay. You all probably have seen it, but it's kinda nasty
