Unhappy Wheel hop woes...

As I understand it, these are the mosy likely contributors to wheel hop:

Worn bushings
Broken PPF
Broken motor mount.

I have the complete Unobtainium kit installed, along with M2 toe links and trailing arms, and I have recently replaced all six pillow ball bushings in the rear. The alignment has been done by a shop who knows what they are doing... They do a whole lot of race cars and exotics. The problem is I still get nasty wheel hop, and just not during hard launches. If it's raining and I accelerate too hard and break the tires loose, the drivetrain bounces around so violently it's stupid.

I have crawled under the car numerous times and inspected the PPF, and I can't see a crack anywhere, so I'm wondering if my problem is a bad motor mount. The only problem is, I am not exactly sure how to tell if a motor mount is bad or not...Can anyone pass on some experience here? How do I test/check a motor mount?

Thanks

Did you replace the differential bushings? From a couple of RX7 books I have, I see that the subframe was changed over the years and that subframe connectors have been added. Anyone know what/where the subframe connectors on the 94/95 are?

Alot of people have found the only true cure for the wheel hop is the Kaaz diff. I can't substantiate this as I don't have one. Just what I've heard.

Rotary-tt, Yeah, I have the diff bushings too. I also would be curious to find out more about these subframe connectors....

Lost Time, well, I hope that's not the case....I'm not really into drag racing, so I rarely launch the car hard. I just like to drive the 7 through the twisties...I'd hate to think that I need to go buy a Kaaz just to keep the thing from shaking itself apart whenever it loses a little traction.

If it does turn out you need to get a new diff, which I doubt, keep in mind that the Kaaz is designed for roadracing. It just happens to work well for dragracing. So it won't be a total waste of money.

How many miles on your rear shocks?

Lost Time, Wow....I didn't know that about the Kaaz...cool.

Rotary93, I have something like...ahem...115,000 miles on the shocks. I never really thought my shocks were bad though, because the ride is similar to other FDs I've been in, and it isn't bouncy at all. Perhaps the shocks are not completely worn out, but enough to cause problems with wheel hop? Is that feasible?

I would think worn out shocks would exacerbate the wheel hop problem as there is less damping in the suspension. BTW, a broken PPF does not cause wheel hop. Wheel hop causes a broken PPF.
