wheel hop? bad driving? something broken?

i've never launched the car hard before (drive like grandma). so the other night and tonight i wanted to see how quick i can go. rev it to 3k rpm and let the clutch go - not really pop it but kinda slipped it out...and the next thing i feel is an earthquake in the rear of the car....so is this wheep hop? i didn't actually feel it hopping up and down, just a shuddering/earthquake feeling from the rear. i'm not looking fo solution to wheel hop, i know you can get those trailing arm things from m2...i'm just curious if indeed it's wheel hop...or is my driving just shitty...or if i have sometime broken. car has 108k miles on chasis. fairly stock, so not making massive power. i do have tein covers, so maybe it's too stiff? i thought wheel hop (if it is) was prone on fds making a lot of power, not stock ones like mine. and i also tried it popping the clutch and same results....

thanks.

Sounds like wheel hop. Might want to check the PPF if things are really banging around.

That would be wheel-hop. Any car can wheel hop with the right conditions.

wheel hopping creates tons of stress, try deflating some of the air in the rear tires (just by tiny bit).. and they might grip a little easier, just a thought

That's wheel hop alright. I launch on race tires from a stop dozens and dozens of times a year. First off be certain all the bushings in the rear end are in good shape. The car is still prone to hopping even when everything is fine but I find the key is to carry just enough wheel spin. Too little wheel spin and it hops, too much and you make a poor start. Even without the hop I still modulate the wheelspin with very little clutch slip to keep the turbos "on boil" and prevent bogging after the car hooks up.
