Wheel Bearings.

The '93 FD that I have has 98k on the chassis. I am totaly redoing the whole suspension. My question is, with that kind of mileage and no noticeable noise/slop in the wheels, is it worth changing out the wheel bearings since I will have everything apart? I could not find the answer using search as to how long FD wheel bearings are good for.

it's one of those " they're good till they wear out" deals, is there alot of play in the wheels currently?

I'm going through a similar excercise now at 128k. I got some low mileage front lower control arms, new upper front control arms and am also considering wheel bearings. I'm a Mazda Competition member so the parts are cheaper than even Malloy Mazda.

If you have the coin, go for it. As a Mazda Comp member the wheel bearing assembly is $80-100 each. Damian has a thread about the wheel bearing replacement up front if you want to search for it. I know mine don't spin as freely as a new bearing would and after 12 years and 128k miles why not replace it now and be done with it for another 12 or more years.

Replace them if you have the time, that'll save you peace of mind and future hassle. I believe Damian's thread outlined the rear bearings IIRC.
