Question What's this wire under my seat?

Hey All,
I removed my seats yesterady and the drivers side seat had a wire running from under the carpet to inside the seat It had a clip I had to disconnect to get it out...I have a R2 if that helps.

TIA

hehe, FD"s dont have power seats The wire I had on my passenger seat was what connected to the handle to make the chair move forward in back, do you mean this wire? It can pop off, or was it an electric wire?

Its an electric wire. I had the same curiosity but it really wasn't that big of a deal to me at the time. Since you ask, I want to know too. It made removing the drivers seat a PITA!

just a thought but might have been a wire for the seat belt.... Something that may be in the touring or base and not in the R models that would indicate the seatbelt being connected or not.... I dunno just a guess

The R2's had a passenger airbag. That wire tells the CU that there is a passenger (& that the passenger is wearing the seatbelt) & to deploy both bags in the event of an accident.

Or at least that's what I was told.

umm...we are talking about a wire under the drivers seat. I was thinking that it is there for a seatbelt warning light but I never see one....

My base model has that wire too. The passenger side does not have that wire so it can't be because of seat belts. Could it be some type of ground?

If it was a ground it would be a single wire but I think it's a couple of wires...I am going to inspect it later when I am ruffling up the suede...Must be some sort of a sensor...

I think it's like one of those jetski things you clip on to your life jacket...If you fall out of the car it shuts it off

Hmmmm, good to see Mahjik isn't in here telling me go search

I think es and ttpowerd are right, and that wire is the sensor for the seat belt warning light.

Yep its the wire for the little sensor on your dash that lights up red if the seatbelt isnt connected. Also, when it is unconnected it thinks that the seatbelt is on, so if you change your seats you dont have to worry about reconnecting it to anything.

the passanger side doesnt have one because there isnt always a passanger in the seat... however usually there is always a driver in the driver seat
