Whats this thing do?

I had my A/C on and I turned on the car and it took a long time to warm up. Not very long, but longer than usual.

Anyway I pop the hood and I see this pulley turning on, and then off, then on again, same with the radiator fans. Is this normal? I'm new to my FD so I don't really know. (FYI its a jdm spec 92)

Thank you!!!

Turning on the A/C causes the fans to run on every car.

The pulley you're showing is the A/C Compressor, it has a clutch so that it doesn't run all the time. It's normal for it to start and stop.

yes thats the pump for your AC.

and you fans turn on and off depending on the car's temp/what accessories are on, but there is a mod for that in the faq.

Well Im new to FD also, when i got it i didn't know it had air pump in it. So i though air pump was a/c compressor. I mean it looks like one anyways.
