What's the plastic hat thing on the end of the injectors.

I have my car torn apart replacing the wiring harness and some MOP lines. I decided to take out my injectors and put new o-rings on. I ordered new o-rings and insulators(which I thought was what I was looking for), but didn't get the things on the end of the injectors.
What I'm looking for is on the tip of the secondary injectors. It looks like a brown hat. It is made of plastic and has the fuel rail on the bottom of it, a small o-ring on the top side of it, and an injector inside of it.
What is the name of this, and is there anywhere I can get it from that won't take a week? Thanks.

It's called a pintle cap. You can buy them here... http://www.mazdatrix.com/getprice.as...m=13-MZTX-0002

While you had them out you shoulda sent them to RC engineering to get flow matched and cleaned. It's only $24 per injector and they replace all the o-rings and pintle caps for you. You'd be surprised at how dirty they can be. When I sent my primaries in they flowed at like 505cc and 520cc. They now both flow 552cc.

When I put in my new injectors... one cap was cracked, the other was totally off the injector and one other was what appeared to be burned.

Found this on some website...

"Fuel injectors meter the amount of fuel delivered to the inlet air. When the injector is off, the spring keeps the needle against the seat, preventing fuel flow. Energizing a solenoid winding pulls the needle back against spring pressure (it moves only about 0.006 in.), allowing fuel to flow through the annular passage around the needle and out through the injector tip. The needle tip, the pintle, is designed to break up the liquid fuel into a fine spray to promote rapid formation of vapor and enhance the mixing of fuel and air."

So...probably not a good idea to have a broken or burned pintle cap. As far as I know, you can only get the pintle caps for the secondary injectors from Mazdatrix. You can't get the primaries from them. You'd have to try RC Engineering for the primary ones.
