all cars (that ive driven) with back up sensors have on and off switches, cause for those of us who can drive and dont need em, that beep gets really annoying

I'm gonna vote for the rear foglight idea. My audi has one; it looks like an extra brake light on the left side of the car that's always on.

It's NOT the rear fog lights! How many times must I say it?

I had rear foglight in my FD, and it sure didn't look like that.

it's a back up alarm..this guy on base here has a fully loaded RX-7, and he has that switch, and it's used for squeezing into these impossible parking spaces here in Japan.

I agree it's a back-up sensor. You also would most likely turn it off late at night or for other situations. It's obvious it's for some sort of sensor and that makes the most logical sense.
