What's the fastest you've had your FD??
#28
I got mine up to 155,but I have only had the car for 3 weeks so in a month I will top that fu@ker out. I used to own a mustang. I know I shouldnt even be saying that, but I have a reason. I hit 163 in that it was a cobra. It handled like a pig I thought I was going to die. My new FD I absolutely amazing I feel like I can fly around I handles like a dream.

I have Been all of 180 and man was it fun... the most stable and in control i have ever felt in my 7 was at that time. no shimmy or shake. and still had room to move on the tach. i dont expect anyone to believe me, but i know i did it and so did my budie finch in the passenger seat. i am aming for 210 with my single turbo upgrade and motor.

Another top speed thread, awesome. Well, since I bought my FD a about a month ago I am happy to say that I have not taken into the 3 figure range. I think we need a post on here about who isn't going fast. After paying 15k for a car I find it hard to risk something like that.
My bike on the other hand I took up to 135 a few weeks ago, and let me tell you, being out in the open going that fast is a scary thing. I had a 300zx before hat I had taken to about 140 the day I bought it, but that was for 7500...so needless to say I was not as mindful with that car.
But I will admit that I do plan on maxing my FD out at some point in the distant future.

Good luck with that rich... I am pretty sure you are going to need to replace your final gear to achive that but then again I am pretty sure 180 would be damn near impossible with a stock drive-train. Also what size rims and tires are you running? It might have said 180 on the speedo but that is only measuring wheel Rpm and calibrated for stock diameter... This only really has to do with running stock rims with lower profile tires....

I have been 240kph but I have no idea what that is in mph.. I could go faster now that I have some downforce, but the front end is light. Im going for 300kph after I get my front bumper...

The magazine articles in early 90's stated that 155MPH was the top speed of the FD.
A few months after I got my FD in 93 when it was totally stock, I put the pedal down to the metal on the Long Island Expressway at 2 A.M. to confirm theur findings.
I hit 150 MPH before letting off never touching the brakes. The car had more at that speed but I ran out of cojones
The worst part of that was slowing down: it seemed like eternity before it came down to more sane double digit speed.

I'm going to go for some high speed runs when my car is done (a month or so) and I will get it all on film! I'm thinking a first run to 180, and if that feels good, I should be able to hit 200 if my ***** hold out.

Yeah when I can reach 300kpm or 180mph whatever it is, thats when Im going to Wangan where RE, Scoot, and the rest of them crazy bastards go at night. The guy at RE, said you cant get a stock FD drivetrain above 285Kph I dont know what 285kph is, but that is smokin... He changed his diff but before he did, he said that the fastest his car would go, without blowing it.

I'm wondering if I can do this with reasonable safety on Toyo RA-01 tires. They are Z rated, but if it's only for a short time (say less than 2 minutes) can I exceed 180 or even shoot for 200? I've had the car up around 140-150 a bunch of times with no problems, but 150 is a lot different than 180+.

I got it up into the mid 140's and had to back off. I don't know exactly how fast cause I was more concerned with watching the road than the speedo. That type of speed is nuts. I also don't have a spoiler (installed, anyway) or a front splitter, so the car was getting a little light up in that relm. I'd love to go faster, but I think I'll save it for a closed course.

When I was Bone Stock, I saw 146 mph.
Since then, I have rebuilt and added a few mods (see list below).
Guess it's time to take her out for a good spin....now that I've got 5k after the rebuild.
Guessing, I should be able to see 170 mph.
What do you think?
Not bad for an old man?
Anybody guess at what my top speed should be?

Only about 155MPH or so in the FD.
Had my GSXR750 (Stage III Yosh stuff) over 165MPH.
My Hummer will go a little over 90MPH but I think I need a wing to hold the rear down
Later, Jeff

And if you go to Rx7.com ... they show gear ratio's and the top speed of each gear ... the stock 5 speed (4:11 gears) will go 181mph at 7500 rpm and the auto (3:90 gears) will go 191 mph 7500 rpm.

top speed for a stock s4 is like 143, drag limited. he's got DP, exhaust, coilovers, and a GIAC X-chip, top speed with that is like 174, and we were going down a hill, so i assume we got to atleast 180.
