Whats broken?

Car starts fine, drive it around. Shut it off after a short drive say under a few hundred feet. Go to start it again and nothing, no clicks even, as if I don't have the clutch pedal depressed. Now while it won't start normally we can hotwire the starter and the car starts fine or I can wait 10-15 minutes and the car starts normally. I'm at odds with this diagnosis.

If you have a PFC, go to your sensor check screen and make sure your clutch switch is working.

I had something sort of similar to this with one of my 2nd gens. Happened 2 times in 8 years. I think my problem was something in the theft deterrent system causing the system to activate and break the current to the starter. You could remove the theft deterrent relay and insert jumpers to connect the circuits to test if it could be this. I am assuming the 3rd gen theft system has a similar relay to disable the starter but I haven't looked at this in the 3rd gen wiring diagrams to verify.
