Question What are your opinion on drag radials?

What are you guys opinions on Nitto drag radials in the rear?

Does anyone run JUST drag radials in the rear?

How much better do they grip?

Do they last as long as a normal tire?

How do people like the Nitto Drag Tires?

What size are you running if you have a pair?

nittos dont hook up that great even after a long burnout.

go with the bfg drag radials if you are racing.

255/50/16 on the stock wheels.

this setup will get you 1.x sixty foot times at the drag strip.

however, if you just need a little more traction, the nittos will last longer and are a better street tire.

Hi Alfred....
What is 1.x 60 ft. times? !.2 / 1.3 / 1.5 / ???
Could you be a little more specific....?
I have used M and H's 305's/16 can't remember the
width size... They have got me 1.67 60 ft. times.

I have heard that the M/T are better though.
I have lotts of countersteering to do in in 3rd and 4 gear
which takes away a little e.t.
best wishes with your choices.... ps: theres nothing
like the rush of launching at 6500 rpm... jc

Well if you want to run in a street class at a track your only option is the Nitto and BFG drag radials. Drag radials are the best bang for the buck to get your et down.

I use Nittos and can say that they DO hook up. With intake, full exhaust and Power FC running base map with 12psi of boost I turned a 12.3 @ 113 with a 1.8x 60 foot. That was with the stock clutch and launching from 3000rpms. I got absolutely NO wheel spin but you have to burn them out good. I'm not talking about some little ***** burn out where the tires barely smoke. I'm talking get in the burn out box and smoke them till you can see smoke out your side window......that kind of burn out. THEY WILL HOOK.

After a burn out like that my Nittos look like sand paper with all the rocks and stuff stuck in them from the tracks parking lot.

The good thing about the Nittos is that 10 min after your run they are hard again just like a normal street tire so they last 10K-15K miles. The BFG's hook real good like that also but you dont have to do a huge burn out because they are VERY soft all the time.....the down side to that is I've HEARD they only last like 1500 miles!!!!! I've never used a set of BFG's so I cant confirm that.

I'm fixing to get a new set of drag radials and will probably try out the BFG's because when I go to the street races I dont like having to do a huge burn out. The tire life doesnt matter because I dont run them daily. They are mounted on a extra set of stock wheels and I just slap them on and go street or track racing.

BTW - I have run Nittos as a daily tire for a week and didnt like them but that could be because I'm spoiled with the Dunlop 9000's

Oh yea, I only run them on the rear and they are the stock size!!!!!! 225/50/16, with a wider tire they would do better

Hope this helps,
