What is wrong with my exhaust?

my exhaust taps on the gas tank
been like this for a while
I assumed that the hangers were just bad so I ordered new ones

I put new hangers on, but the hanger is literally mashed on the side of the car
is this normal?
it barely fits, I cant make it go any farther

on the other side...

from far away, so much space on the right side (left in photo), but like I said the hanger is literally touching the wall
should I bend my hangers?
could the main cat or downpipe be causing this issue? or should I just get a crowbar?
the exhaust looks fine from the rear outside

I put the new hangers on and havnt heard any banging around
but I havnt been taking any sharp turns either

Mine has done similarly annoying things. I think it's due to the welding of the aftermarket parts is not as consistent as the OEM parts.

I recall having to adjust the rear bracket to get it to hang clear of the tank. I do believe that having it tap/rattle/touch the surrounding parts is unacceptable.

A poor fitting downpipe will cause issues all the way back starting at the cat and getting worse the farther away you get. What downpipe are you running?
