Question What would happen.. Catch Tank, no Purge Control, to UIM?

I had my Catch Tank (that recieves a line from the Charcoal Canister) capped off after the new engine install. But the fuel smell at WOT makes me feel kinda funnnny. *stock diagram below

Before I reinstall that Purge Control Solenoid that actuates it (if I can find it), I was thinking of running a straight line from the Catch Tank with a 1-way check valve straight to the UIM.
whatya think?
too much fumes at WOT?
Or is it open at WOT anyways?

when does the Purge Control tell it to open?

Uhh mines been capped off at the aux fuel line for months now. No PCSV anywhere. No fuel smell or vapour lock issues at all.

I connected the line from the charcoal canister separater to the UIM using only the check valve and it works well (no smell) , because of the check valve it will only pull when in vacuum and close when in boost . Mazda said that the fumes will degrade the a/f ratio so this is why there is the solenoid that is opened at idle and light (cruising) loads to pull allow the fumes to be pulled from the tank.

Clayne do you get alot of pressure when you got to unscrew the gas cap. Mine has been disconnected (not capped) for months as well, no problems, except I notice a good amount of pressure when putting in gas.

I've run mine straight to the UIM with a check valve and no solenoid valve...and notice, my oil has a more distinct gas smell to it (I know 3rd gen oil smells of gas, but it appears more noticeable since hooking up the purge in this manner). I'm thinking of wiring the purge solenoid to operate with my electric air pump...on during idle and light cruising.

Can someone verify this statement?

I haven't had the chance to do much research on the issue...any thoughts???

Seems to me there is a chart in the FSM that shows when different solenoids are activated. Check the emissions section.

thanks for the tip.

I did read everything I could find on this site...seems that when the motor is off the solenoid keeps combustible fumes out of the intake manifold...some have experienced a slight boom, when starting the car. I haven't heard of or experienced this, any comments?

Does anyone think it is possible that the fumes/vapors are diluting my oil (causing the strong gas smell) because the valve isn't shut when the motor isn't running?

Bumping this ancient thread. Anyone have any idea why dubulup was experiencing a fuel smell in his oil? I'm guessing it was just coincidence. Would the vapors actually be enough to shift A/F readings? And is it bad to always have the gas tank under vacuum (except when in boost)?

I would think vacuum inside the fuel tank would just fight against the fuel pump.
