I'm working on the car this morning, replacing more vacuum lines, check valves (bought these from Dale. . .so far they look great. . .more on them once it's all done), water lines, etc.

I find I have broken my purge control valve (both nipples are broken. . .I don't think I'll spend the time fixing it.) Now here's the question. . .what the heck is this valve. It is before the check valve that goes into the UIM (it's one of the big green ones and is still there), air flows both ways through it (don't know if that's by design, or if it's bad). Do I need to keep this thing??

 

It's a check valve, it sould flow one way to the manifoid. You'll need it if you are keeping the purge control system. You can just clean it with some carb cleaner, and she'll be right.

Why are there two check valves on the same line?

 

Nevermind, I just double checked my vacuum schematic. . . they're not the same line. It's just a bad check valve. Thanks!
