what tools for alternator install
I was just wondering if any special tools are required for getting the belts off or what not. I am replacing the failing stock with an aftermarket equivalent.
OP, do you have to swap over the pulley? If so, you will probably need an air compressor and gun. Or just take the alternator to a tire shop and ask them to swap the pulleys for you. Good luck.
An impact gun is used to quickly torque, spin, off the nut before the pulley has the chance to start spinning. If you don't have an impact gun, you can use a rubber constricting jar opener to grab and hold the pulley still while you use a ratchet to take on/off the nut:

This can be purchased at Pepboys or hardware store.

If you still have the airpump, don't forget to loosen the adjustment underneath it. IIRC 14mm too. On reassembly pull the belt snug with the airpump adjustment and then final tightening with the alternator tensioner.
A plastic dead-blow hammer is handy for coaxing the replacement alternator back on.
